Case Study: Creating a Safe & Stable Welfare Area in Cambridgeshire
A construction contractor working on a major infrastructure project in Cambridgeshire needed a stable, level surface to accommodate a welfare unit for on-site workers. The ground conditions were soft and prone to waterlogging, making it unsuitable to place the unit directly on the existing surface.

The Challenge
The site required:
- A stable, load-bearing surface capable of supporting a welfare cabin and associated equipment
- Quick installation to avoid delays to the project programme
- A solution that could be removed cleanly without damage to the ground beneath
Our Solution
GT Trax deployed a configuration of PowerTrax 60 (Signaroad) panels to create a firm, level pad across the target area. The interlocking panels distributed the weight of the welfare unit evenly, preventing sinkage and ensuring the cabin remained level throughout the project duration.
Our site crew completed the installation in a single day, with no disruption to other on-site activities.
The Result
The welfare unit was successfully installed on the pad and remained stable for the full duration of the project — several months — through some of the wettest weather of the winter. When the project concluded, the panels were uplifted cleanly, leaving the ground in its original condition.

"GT Trax turned up on time, got it done quickly, and the pads held up perfectly throughout. No issues at all — we'll definitely be using them again." — Site Manager, Cambridgeshire
