We're proud to be supporting Stockwood Illuminated once again this year — and this year was bigger than ever. The popular illuminated trail event doubled in size, bringing thousands more visitors through the park during the winter months.
The Challenge
Scaling an outdoor illuminated event presents real ground protection challenges:
- The extended route placed new sections of parkland under significant pedestrian pressure
- Winter weather meant ground conditions were soft and prone to deterioration
- Accessibility for all visitors — including those using wheelchairs and pushchairs — was a priority
- The visual experience of the event required walkways that were functional but unobtrusive
Our Solution
GT Trax supplied kilometres of WalkOver pedestrian panels across the expanded trail route. The panels were laid to form a continuous, stable walking surface that protected the grass beneath while providing visitors with a safe, even path to follow.
The accessibility credentials of the WalkOver system were central to the event's inclusive design — every section of the trail was navigable by wheelchair and pushchair, ensuring the event was enjoyable for visitors of all abilities.
The Result
The event ran smoothly across all evenings, with no ground damage and no accessibility complaints. The parkland was restored to excellent condition following the event's conclusion.
